For the life of me, I buy them in bunches. Another hundred bucks today for a few books – the middle girl got 3. Wife got one, I got two (a Halo book, what!?). I enjoy reading immensely but beside a few SAO books and Adrian Newey’s “How to build a racecar”, I haven’t really read much at all.
When we moved to AR, I went to the nearest Barnes & Nobles and purchased a few Sci-Fi related titles like Scalzi’s “Red Shirts” and Gaiman’s “American Gods”. But I haven’t read a single page. Maybe I like to think I enjoy reading but I really don’t?
The Spanish Grand Prix was a pretty good race, like last year where Hamilton came back after a second or third pit stop and chased Verstappen down for the win. Last year’s championship fight was akin to a heavyweight boxing match where each contestant went blow for blow. For every win Hamilton had, Max brought two the next set of races. Then toward the end of the year, Mercedes went bananas and the W12 (the Mercedes F1 car) became a proper rocket ship (straight line speed was crazy fast).
Anyway, Hamilton started on 6th, got a puncture after Magnussen collided with him, and effectively from last place, worked his way up to 4th before having to ease off due to Power Unit issues. You also saw a masterful defense from George Russell against a trailing Max Verstappen, who through a faulty DRS actuator, was unable to pass Russell for quite a while. There was also the drama of team politics where Checo was told to let Max through for the win late in the race. Leclerc’s Power Unit died toward the middle of the race after he had established quite a comfortable lead. And lots of action between racers overtaking each other.
I do miss the Black livery Mercedes. I hope McLaren does another Gulf inspired theme again (last year’s Monaco race livery was a real banger). Since watching F1 and Ted Lasso, I’ve adopted some English colloquialisms like “banger” and “mega”. Oh my.
